About Kendyl

I’m so happy you are here!

Hey there! I’m Kendyl Hovis, a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) practicing in Arkansas, and additionally licensed as an LPC in both Colorado and Missouri. I’m so glad you’re here! With over 10 years of experience in mental health, I’ve had the joy, or should we say kos, of helping people navigate life’s challenges and discover their most authentic selves.

I thrive most working with life’s ebbs, flows, and transitions, LGBTQIA+ issues and gender exploration, and PTSD/trauma recovery—including religious trauma and deconstruction. As a GALAP Pledge signer, I’m proud to support the LGBTQIA+ community as an ally, with single-session assessments for letters of support. I’m trauma informed and EMDR trained, equipped to assist clients with working through difficult and distressing experiences they may feel stuck on, and moving forward towards a calmer and peaceful self. I also have experience with managing anxiety, depression, self esteem, ADHD (fellow ADHD-er!) and relationship issues.

Genuine connection is at the heart of everything I do. My approach to therapy is warm, laid-back, and real—I believe in creating a safe, welcoming space where you can show up as your true self. Whether we’re laughing together or digging into the tough stuff, my goal is to walk alongside you as you grow, heal, and step into the life you truly want—embracing your own kos.

When I am not providing therapy, I have a passion for working with LACs as they pursue their terminal licenses. As a supervisor, I’m here to cheer you on, provide the support you need, and give you space to grow and shine as a helping professional. Much like with my clients, I offer a safe, judgment-free space to grow your clinical skills, learn what they didn’t teach you in school, and discuss the difficult parts of being a counselor. My aim is to help you as much as I can on your way to your professional goals and find your kos in the therapy room along the way.

Whether you’re looking for therapy or supervision, I’d be honored to join you in finding and creating kos together! I look forward to connecting to create a space where you can feel seen, heard, and empowered to embrace your truest self!

How does Kendyl embrace kos?

Music and Theatre—I enjoy going to concerts of any genre (I attended almost 30 in 2024 alone!), collecting vinyl records, and usually have some form of music playing when I am not seeing clients. I am a self proclaimed Swiftie and think Stevie Nicks is the coolest woman to ever exist! I also love going to the theatre and seeing Broadway shows and plays. Let’s swap music and show recommendations at the end of session!

True Crime—I am fascinated by the psychology behind crime for both victims and offenders. Outside the office, you might catch me watching the latest documentary or listening to a podcast or audiobook about true crime. I would love to hear your theories on your favorite case that has taken you down the rabbit hole!

Being outside—Some of my favorites are hiking, kayaking, and exploring— whether it is local or further away, I love it all! I also love mountains of any kind as well as sunflowers—which hold special meaning to me. I am curious to hear what ways you connect and enjoy nature!

Travel—Norway was my most recent trip and the inspiration for my practice. I have been to over a dozen foreign countries and over ⅔ of the 50 states. I would love to hear your dream destination or what adventures are on your bucket list!

Family and Animals—I value spending time with my family– including my pets, 2 dogs and 3 cats, as well as fostering dogs and cats with Best Friends Animal Society. Please show me alllllll the pictures of your cats, dogs or favorite animals!

Cozyness—I love a fire, a hot bath, a warm blanket, sipping hot chocolate, and lounging in comfy clothes—all of which inspired me when creating the vibe of the practice. I can’t wait to learn what you do to create comfort and peace in your own life—let’s collaborate and swap ideas together to add to your list!
